A Protocol for the Nigerian Neonatal Acute Kidney Injury Continuum (NEOAKINUM) Prospective Study

چکیده
Neonatal Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is characterized by a sudden decline in renal function, or failure of physiologic rise glomerular filtrate rate, leading to the kidneys' inability maintain fluid and electrolyte homeostasis.1,2 Despite significant attention given epidemiology acute kidney injury adult older paediatric populations, there paucity data on neonatal AKI. There has been notable lack focus AKI continuum consisting disease, as well its progression chronic disease.

Neonatal Acute Kidney Injury.
In recent years, there have been significant advancements in our understanding of acute kidney injury (AKI) and its impact on outcomes across medicine. Research based on single-center cohorts suggests that neonatal AKI is very common and associated with poor outcomes. In this state-of-the-art review on neonatal AKI, we highlight the unique aspects of neonatal renal physiology, definition, risk ...

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common catastrophic clinical condition encountered in most of the hospitals, associated with poor short and long term mortality and morbidity . "RIFLE /AKIN" criteria is used for diagnosis and classification of AKI Aims and O Bjectives : This study was undertaken to understand about the clinical spectrum of the disease ; common modes of clinical presentations, eti...
متن کاملVitamin D levels in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury: a protocol for a prospective cohort study (VID-AKI)
INTRODUCTION Acute kidney injury (AKI) affects more than 50% of critically ill patients. The formation of calcitriol, the active vitamin D metabolite, from the main inactive circulating form, 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), occurs primarily in the proximal renal tubules. This results in a theoretical basis for reduction in levels of calcitriol over the course of an AKI. Vitamin D deficiency is h...
متن کاملAcute Kidney Injury Biomarkers for Patients in a Coronary Care Unit: A Prospective Cohort Study
BACKGROUND Renal dysfunction is an established predictor of all-cause mortality in intensive care units. This study analyzed the outcomes of coronary care unit (CCU) patients and evaluated several biomarkers of acute kidney injury (AKI), including neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), interleukin-18 (IL-18) and cystatin C (CysC) on the first day of CCU admission. METHODOLOGY/PRIN...
